Conad del Tirreno, operating with the signboards: E.Leclerc Conad, Conad Superstore, Conad, Conad City and Margherita, associates 212 business partners – 120 in Tuscany and La Spezia province, 40 in Lazio, 52 in Sardinia – in 2016, it has generated revenues of over 2.39 billion euros.
That 2017 was the year of the consolidation of IoT in the world is a fact, especially in light of the reports that were drawn up at the end of the year. To date, 85% of companies globally and 92% of Italian companies are interested in implementing IoT by 2019 to innovate their business and make it more efficient.
It is increasingly clear, when we talk about the business of the future, the importance that IoT is reaching.
A research, carried out by Gartner, underlines the key role that IoT has reached during this year. Infact, only in 2017, the connected objects were about 8.7 billions.
Moreover, a further important data to be recorded is the exponential growth of interest in the IoT. The increase is 44% in 5 years, if we take into consideration the underlying graph of the growth in interest from 2012 to today the increase is clear to our eyes.
An RFID tag is an electronic component made up of a chip and a small antenna. The tag has a small memory which can contain data and it has the ability to transmit them without the need of power, exploiting the energy that the antenna absorbs when it is illuminated by an RFID reader.
In the case of small-scale goods the problem to be faced is the, extremely limited, space available to apply the tag. Murata, a Japanese company that has gained excellent know-how in the development of multi-layer ceramic substrates, has created a new RFID tag, MAGICSTRAP tag, really tiny, but at the same time robust and resistant, which can be affixed or integrated into objects of small surfaces.
All of us want to live in a healthy and safe environment, and the best way to achieve that is to monitor the buildings and infrastructures. Structural health monitoring is one of the most important activities performed to check and assess the structural health of buildings. Through structural health monitoring it is possible to measure the current status of the building and identify potential risks.
Some time ago, we had the luck to be one of the firsts pioneers in Italy to have the opportunity to test the new Narrowband-IoT (Nb-IoT) technology standard, in Vodafone Open Lab in Milan. Continue reading “TERTIUM’s experience in Vodafone Open Lab”
